MDAR's New Licensing Program

In late 2021, MDAR began a new licensing program with an annual fee of $100. Prior to this, there were 450 organizations listed on the shelter/rescue list. Currently there are about 136 approved shelters and rescues.

Administrative Challenges

One thing that has proven difficult is that the Attorney General Office is quite behind in processing 990s and issuing Certificates of Solicitation, Calling them and requesting a letter of good standing is an alternative option.

License Number Presentation

Once you get your license number, although it says it must be on all printed material, Patricia Cabral has commented that it also should be on electronic material. Here is a partial list of places to put it:
